Oregon Energy Saving Tax Credits Are Disappearing

Oregon Energy Tax Credits Coming to an End?!

If you didn’t hear yet, the tax credits that Oregon has offered to taxpayers for purchasing and installing energy efficient devises in their homes is coming to an end.   The great news is you still have time to take advantage of it.    Here are the steps you will need to take to sneak in under the wire and get the tax credits.

To qualify for a tax credit:

  • RETC devices must be purchased by December 31, 2017;
  • Devices must be operational by April 1, 2018; and
  • ODOE must receive your application no later than June 1, 2018.
Solar photovoltaic applications must be initially input into PowerClerk by a tax credit technician on or before December 31, 2017.
If you plan to transfer your tax credit, for example as part of a home sale.  ODOE must receive the pass-through application on or before June 1, 2018. Please review the RETC Administrative Rules for more information about program eligibility and requirements.
Here is a link to the state of Oregon’s Website on Tax Credits.

So to sum it up,  you must purchase the devises before the end of 2017,  but you have until April 1st of 2018 to have them installed, and until June of 2018 to send in the appropriate paperwork to the state.
